Jill has over 15 years of leadership experience working as the Executive Director and Chief Marketing Officer at a large full-service firm in Minneapolis. She has been an active volunteer for the Washburn High School Arts program and served as the treasurer for both the Minneapolis Boys High School Hockey and Lacrosse Booster organizations.
Jake Powell - Board Treasurer
Jake has extensive experience providing support to disabled adults through working as a direct support professional with Pathways to Community as well as his tenure as a reader and scribe for the University of St. Thomas Disabilities Enhancement Program. He has small business and marketing experience as co-founder of a clothing company.
Karen Savage - Secretary
Karen is a mosaic artist and teaches mosaic classes for children and adults. She is a Speech/Language Pathologist for Minneapolis Public Schools. Her previous experience includes teaching children and adults with special needs. Karen has extensive volunteer experience as a photographer and communications liaison with youth organizations like Southwest High School Soccer and the Minneapolis Alpine Ski Team.
Steve Fischer - Board Member
Steve has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector as executive director of Vision Loss Resources. In this role, spanning over 35 years, he developed the organization from it’s small beginning in St. Paul to a multi-service, multi-state organization serving over 5,000 disabled people annually. The organization grew through assimilation of other organizations and a successful and unique business model. Steve holds a B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. He is presently retired.
Kristen Miller - Board Member
Kristen enjoys volunteering at the studio and is passionate about helping others. She is a care giver through and through, tending to the needs of her three children and extended family. She is self employed as a birth doula in the community and has been on the staff of volunteer doulas at Woodwinds Hospital. She is excited about being a part of the board this year.
Ruth Hornstein - Board Member
Ruth Hornstein is a Clinical Psychologist. With over 25 years of experience working in community mental health and private practice, she works with children, adolescents and adults. She has known Jane Elias for nearly 30 years and is excited about being a part of Simply Jane/Artables and its valuable mission.
